ANNOUNCEMENTS

Youth class announcements - Updated 10/5/2022 @ 7:18PM

**As a reminder, we are still limiting how many non-students are allowed in the building and scheduling observations for Youth Martial Arts.  If you would like to watch your child’s class we are allowing for one family per class to be in the building.  PLEASE refrain from staying in the building if you have not scheduled an observation.  If you are in the building and have not scheduled an observation, you will be asked to leave.  Simply email if you would like to schedule an observation.  We have informed the instructors to simply refer to this email if a parent is unaware of the policy.

Reminder that if you are late, and arrive after the start of class, to please use the back door to come in and leave from as we lock the front door at the start of class.  Our staff is dedicated to focusing on the children while in class and we cannot have other non-members coming in the front doors during your child’s youth classes as it could take away from focusing on the children.  Reminder that front doors are locked until 5 minutes before each Youth class.  Please refrain from dropping of your child until then.**

DROP OFF:
We will no longer be requiring parents to come into the facility to drop off children.  Understand; however, that your child MUST have a key tag and their equipment for the class.  We are going to be extremely strict with this.  If your child does not have a key tag, they may not participate.  Or, we can assign them a new key tag when they come in.  Replacements key tags are $5+tax.  New key tags replace the old ones and the old ones will not work after a new one is assigned.  We will no longer be able to scan in a child if a key tag is forgotten as we will be opening the doors 5 minutes before class (4:25PM, 6:25PM, 12:55PM) to leave more time for our staff to clean the facility before classes.

Please make sure you are up-to-date on our days off and breaks, as we have had parents drop off children to a locked facility and drive off.  We would like to avoid this from ever happening again!  Please make sure your child has entered the facility safely before you leave the parking lot.  Front doors will continue to be locked at the start of class.  If you are late, the Members Only entrance in the back of the facility will remain open.  REMINDER:  If you are coming in or waiting outside with your child, make sure you have parked in a parking spot rather than parking in the drive-through area.

PICK UP:
If you have any concerns with your child leaving the facility unaccompanied, please make sure you have parked in a parking spot and are waiting at the front door for your child.  In the rare case that you are not going to be on time, please call ahead to let us know and your child is welcome to stay in the front door atrium until you have arrived.  NOTE:  There will be no supervision of children after the end of the class as our staff will be cleaning the facility and going right into the next class.  It is imperative that you are on time to pick up your children.

SPECTATORS:
We will continue to have no open spectating for Youth classes.  You can; however, schedule a time to watch your child’s class by emailing info@cpamma.com.  Please do so at least 2 weeks in advance and understand that we are still only allowing one family to spectate at a time.  If a family is already scheduled for the time you are interested in, you will need to pick another time.

7/1 UPDATE

ALL YMA STUDENTS:

Key Tag – Parents, it is imperative that your child scans their key tag before attending class.  We need to keep an accurate, up-to-date record of everyone in the building at all times.  If you have lost your child’s key tag, please come in at least 15 minutes before your child’s class and you may purchase a new one for $5+tax at the front desk.  Starting the week of July 7th all students MUST scan in to attend class.

Drop Off – Parents, great job bring your children early to their class, walking them in and dropping them off at the fence.  This is working very well, please continue to do so!

Pick Up – Remember, your child’s class is currently 45 minutes so make sure to pick them up promptly R 5:15PM/7:15PM.

Locked Doors – We will continue to lock the doors during the Youth class.  Class will start promptly at 4:30PM/6:30PM and doors will be locked at the same time.

Bathroom – Please have your child to go the bathroom at home BEFORE they attend class.  However, we would like to ask that you ask your child if they need to go to the bathroom before dropping them off at the fence.  We have had a few habitual bathroom users and would like to minimize the amount of cross over traffic in the facility.

FUNDAMENTAL STUDENTS:

Parents, please make sure your child brings their gloves to class.  We are not loaning gloves or allowing children to share gloves however we are hitting the bags (with social distance).  For the remainder of the summer (July & August) your child will simply need to attend class in their YMA Uniform and bring their YMA gloves.  No other equipment is needed.

INTERMEDIATE STUDENTS:

July’s curriculum is sticks!  Your child can simply attend class in their YMA Uniform and bring their sticks.  No other equipment or bags are needed and if brought, will be sent home with the parent.

August’s curriculum is Muay Thai!  Your child will simply attend class in their Muay Thai shorts and CPAMMA t-shirt and bring their YMA gloves.  No other equipment or bags are needed for August.

JIU-JITSU:

For Intermediate Students, because of the need for close contact we have not decided when we will reintroduce the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu portion of the YMA curriculum.  We will keep all of you posted when the time comes to reintroduce BJJ.

EQUIPMENT:

If your child needs any of the equipment mentioned above, simply email us at info@cpamma.com  and let us know what your child needs and we can charge it to your account and have the needed equipment waiting for them when they come in next time.

6/14 UPDATE

CPAMMA Youth Martial Arts Families!

We are excited to have your child(ren) back at CPAMMA this week for one of their previously scheduled classes!  We can’t wait to see all of the children this week and get them back to a normal schedule!  We will do everything we can to make these first classes extra special for your child and make sure they have an amazing time returning to CPAMMA!  To do so, we are asking for all of your support in making sure the following protocols below are followed by you and your children.

SPACE/CLASS LENGTH/EQUIPMENT:  We are starting with one (Main) class per child, per week.  We will be adding back second (auxiliary) classes in July once we have our process down regarding social distance and facility sanitation.—Please remain patient as health and safety is priority.  All classes will be 45 minutes and you MUST pick up your child at the end of the 45 minute class; 5:15PM or 7:15PM.  Understand that late pickups will have an additional $1 per minute fee for our instructor(s) to stay with your child while waiting for you to arrive.—We understand the first few weeks class dismissal times may vary and go over as we get our processes down.  Your child will ONLY need their gloves.  Please refrain from children bringing bags or other equipment.

NOTE:  IF a child comes to a class they are not scheduled for, they will not be able to participate.

PARKING:  When you arrive at CPAMMA you will need to park in a parking spot and walk your child up to the front doors.  Please do not leave your car without your car being in a parking spot.  We can’t stress this enough.  Even if you just plan on being a few seconds, we can’t have any vehicles blocking parking spots or the entrance/exit without a driver inside the vehicle.

SCANNING YOUR CHILD IN:  Please line up with your child using social distance on the sidewalk outside of CPAMMA.  You may not drop your child off, as parents are required to sign a new waiver before children attend classes.  Please line up on the sidewalk 15 minutes before your child’s scheduled class.  Doors will be unlocked 15 minutes before every class to avoid parents dropping children off and driving away.  If you arrive early you must stay with your child until you have brought them inside.  Children left outside will be required to call parents to come pick them up and will not be able to attend the class.  Your child’s safety is most important to us.

WAIVER:  When you come in you will scan your child’s key tag and sign a release waiver.  A new waiver must be signed for your child to attend class.  You only need to sign a release waiver once.  Please make sure it is a parent/guardian who brings them to their first class.  Other care givers may not sign for your child.  If another caregiver brings your child outside of a parent/guardian they will be instructed to either call a parent/guardian to come sign a release waiver or not have the child participate and have a parent bring the child to their next class.

FENCE DROP OFF: Once you and your child have scanned in, you will leave them along the fence inside the facility using social distance.  You will then exit using the back door.  You MUST come in and scan your child in and drop them off at the fence for each class.  Children may not be dropped off at the front door.  As we get our systems down we will likely relax this requirement, but for now, please be patient and follow this protocol.

NO SPECTATORS: For the time being, we will not be allowing spectators in the facility.  You will only be allowed to stay in the facility during the class if your child has a medical condition that requires your presence.  We are also allowing parents of first-time children to stay in CPAMMA during their child’s first class.

PICK UP:  You MUST be ready to pick up your child by 5:15PM/7:15PM.  When you pick up your child, if you would like to stay in your car and pull up to the sidewalk you may do so.  PLEASE do not block any empty parking spaces if you are staying in your car.  Please also be aware of adult students who may need to pull in/out of a parking space.  As long as it is not raining, an instructor will stay with the children on the same sidewalk you lined up on to enter CPAMMA.  If it is raining, we will have children inside watching for parent’s vehicles to pull up to the curb.  You are entirely welcome to park and come to the front door as well to pick up your child.

NOTE: Late pick-up will come with a fee of $1 per minute.  However, we understand that during these first few weeks it may take longer to get children out the door as we fine tune our processes.

BELT:  We were scheduled to test before we were shut down and because of this, we already have the new belts and certificates for children who were scheduled to test.  The testing fee for Youth Martial Arts is $35.  This helps cover the cost of the new belt, certificate and staffing.  While our costs didn’t change, the children did not technically test.  Because of this, we had parents who asked us not to charge them for their child’s new belt.  We are offering it as an option for you to pay for your child’s new belt they will receive.  If you would like to pay for your child’s belt; simply respond back to the email you received, let the front desk know or you can pay for it online HERE.  Thank you all greatly for your support.

NOTE:  Children who were going to test will receive their new belt regardless of if you choose to pay for it or not.

SOCIAL DISTANCE/MASKS:  We will be enforcing social distance at a minimum of 6’ between children.  Please discuss this with your child and explain to them that they may not have physical contact with other children yet.  Children attempting to get close to other children, physical contact, yell/spit/scream will not be tolerated and will follow a zero tolerance policy.  Masks are optional and you as a parent may make the decision if your child will wear a mask or not.  All we ask is that you talk to your child about the mask potentially prohibiting their breathing and if they feel out of breath because of the mask, to take a break from the activity we are doing, or remove the mask.

5/29 UPDATE
Youth classes resume June 15th!

FORMAT:

We will start with 30-45 Minute Classes.  This will ensure we have enough time to conform to the CDC/DOH guidelines in regards to facility sanitation between classes and anticipate 15 minutes to switch classes.  When you arrive, please line up  with your child via social distance on the outside sidewalk. You will enter the facility one pair at a time to sign your child in.  Once they are signed in and in line you may leave.  We will look to extend the class to the full hour as soon as we are able to and understand the best way of transitioning between classes with social distancing.

DAYS/TIMES:

Starting June 15th we will resume classes M-Th 4:30PM and M/W 6:30PM time slots (no classes to start F-Su).  Each child will be assigned one day/time listed in the email.  For children who have an active membership, nothing additional is needed.  Simply come to the one day/time listed in the email you received.  If you froze your child’s account, you will need to fill out the resume form.
http://www.mmapayments.com/cpamma/resume/
**For families who frozen their memberships, spaces are on a first come, first serve basis and extremely limited.**

CLASS SIZE LIMIT:

We will be limiting the size of each class.  There will be two separate groups; Fundamental & Intermediate Students.  Each child will only attend ONE day per week.  We will begin to phase back in to two days per week as soon as we are able to, without making the group sizes too large to socially distance.  Our last step in the additional days/times for children will be scheduling makeup days.
**Understand that if your child shows up to a day/time not assigned in the email sent, they will not be able to participate.**

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:

While not much will change for us in regards to how we clean the facility, we will now do the same cleaning we did before, up to 5 times per day.  We will clean the entire facility which takes roughly 4 people 30 minutes to complete before and after each class. This includes sweeping/mopping the mats, wiping down all of the equipment and surfaces and refilling needed sanitation solution dispensers.  We have placed hand sanitizer dispensers around the facility for everyone to use. We have strict enter/exit doors, limits on the number of people in the facility and in our bathrooms.  We ask that your child attends in their uniform with (if they have one) a CPAMMA shirt underneath, and only brings gloves to start.  Please refrain from having your child bring their bags/other equipment.

INDOOR/OUTDOOR CLASSES:

Whenever possible, we will have classes outside.  This will allow for fresh air and plenty of space for the children to social distance.  We have over an acre of grass that the children will be able to have class that is located at the end of our parking lot.

The indoor facility will still have the ability for children to stay spread out and social distance from each other.  We will also have our HVAC system pulling in fresh air the entire time we are open and for several hours before and after classes each day to refresh the air in the facility.  Please have your child come to class in their full uniform if we are inside, full uniforms will be mandatory.  If we go outside, children will be welcome to take off their gi top.  If your child has one, we ask that they wear a CPAMMA T-Shirt under their gi top.

RESERVING YOUR CHILD’S SPOT:

If you maintained your child’s membership throughout the shutdown, we will see you and your child on the day/time listed in the email that you received.  If you froze your child’s membership you will need to “resume” their membership by filling out the following form before their spot is secured:
http://www.mmapayments.com/cpamma/resume/
**For families who frozen their memberships, spaces are on a first come, first serve basis and extremely limited.**

Thank you for all your support and patience as we safely and carefully reopen!

Fall 2019 Announcements

Youth Martial Arts Parents!

As our Youth Program at CPAMMA continues to grow and martial arts gain world popularity, we are excited to announce several additions to CPAMMA’s Youth Martial Arts program.  The following will help maximize your child’s learning experience at CPAMMA in all of the various arts of study.

To start, we will be making small modifications to the curriculum starting January 1, 2019.  Don’t worry, your child will simply see these modifications as new and exciting!  We will be putting more focus on “Muay Thai” as our Striking Art and “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu” as our Grappling Art.  This does not mean we will be removing the previous arts (Jeet Kune Do & Filipino Martial Arts) that your child focused on, but simply giving more focus to our main arts.  The reason we are doing this is because in the coming years, Muay Thai” and “Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are both going to be Olympic sports.  Your child has already been learning these arts in their current classes, but we will put more focus on pure Muay Thai and pure Jiu-Jitsu in each particular class.  For those who have ambitions of being an Olympic athlete someday, their training can now start at CPAMMA.

ARTS:

CPAMMA has the privilege of being the only gym in Central PA with; amongst other certifications, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, and a Black Arm Band in Muay Thai in its head instructor; Ryan Gruhn.  This means that we can give out certified rank in both Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to your children through our Youth Martial Arts program.  For those interested, competitive opportunities will present themselves in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as they progress through the program but they are in no way mandatory.

Up until this point, we have only given rank by “Youth Belt” in Youth Martial Arts.  Starting in January, intermediate students will also earn rank in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with BJJ belts and also in Muay Thai through “Arm Bands” as they work through the Intermediate & Advanced curriculum.  They will be able to take these ranks to other schools should your family move out of the State College area.  **This will be in addition to their current Youth Martial Arts Belt Rank.**

FUNDAMENTALS, INTERMEDIATE, AND ADVANCED:

Our Youth Program will be split into three levels; Fundamentals, Intermediate, and Advanced

FUNDAMENTALS:
Brand new students ages 5-10 start in the Fundamentals program where they will get a mix of Striking and Grappling arts.  Minimum Youth belt rank will be White Belt and five years old will be the age minimum.  Maximum belt rank will be Green w/ II Stripes and the maximum age will be 10 years of age.

INTERMEDIATE:
The minimum belt rank at the Intermediate level will be Orange Belt and/or 10 years old once they have mastered the fundamental curriculum. This is the secondary group during the 4:30PM, 6:30PM and 1PM Saturday classes.

ADVANCED:
The minimum belt rank at the Advanced level will be Brown Belt and/or 12 years old once they have mastered the Intermediate curriculum. The advanced students will choose an “elective” of one of the teen classes, which are a specific art; Striking, Grappling or Sticks.  These classes meet in the evenings with the rest of the teen students.

No promoting to next belt until ready.  **Understand that from White-Black Youth belt it takes a minimum of 24 semesters or 6 years.  If your child starts Youth Martial Arts late, they may not be able to test for Youth Black Belt, but will have the opportunity to test for the teen/adult ranks.**

INTERMEDIATE ART ROTATION:

We will continue to rotate through the three current areas of focus by the month; Striking, Grappling, and Sticks.  However; starting in January, we will be adding a “blend” month. This will make the curriculum a total of four areas of focus; Striking, Grappling, Sticks, and Blend.  For example; January = Striking, February = Grappling, March = Sticks, April = Blend.  The “blend” month will be where we focus on striking, into take-downs and grappling.  Intermediate Families, we recommend your child simply keeps all of their equipment with them when they come to class so they are ready for the next month.

NEW EQUIPMENT:

We are giving families a eight month lead time on needing the new equipment below.  Starting September 2020, if your child is in the Intermediate or Advanced program they will need a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu uniform for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a pair of Muay Thai Shorts, Boxing Gloves & CPAMMA T-Shirt for Muay Thai.  We are doing this because these are the traditional uniforms of pure Muay Thai and pure Jiu-Jitsu.  The Jiu-Jitsu uniform is also nessesary because it is much sturdier as it is used to grip.  The lighter, less expensive Youth gis all students start out with simply do not hold up to gripping.  This also helps the families who are only in State College for a short period of time, as wherever they move, there will likely be Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and/or Muay Thai at a gym in their new location.  We will be offering the following wholesale discounts on equipment through March 2020, and the sale will start in late January:

BJJ Uniforms – $119.99
Boxing Gloves – $29.99
Thai Shorts – $19.99
CPAMMA Shirt – $19.99

YOUTH BLACK BELT:

Our maximum age for Youth Black Belt is 16 years old.  Once they turn 17 they will no longer be eligible for Youth Black Belt and will start working on the “Adult” ranks.  The minimum age for Youth Black Belt will be 12 years old.  Do note that most of our YMA students who have attained the rank of Youth Black Belt have been in the middle of that range at 14 years of age.  This means that if your child starts Youth Martial Arts at 5 years old, they can expect an average of 8 years to Youth Black Belt.  However, as we always say “we never test a child until they are ready.”

No promoting to next belt until ready.  **Understand that from White-Black Youth belt it takes a minimum of 24 semesters or 6 years.  If your child starts Youth Martial Arts late, they may not be able to test for Youth Black Belt but will have the opportunity to test for the teen/adult ranks.**

BELT RANK ADVANCEMENTS:

There will be several key belts that students must be able to perform the proper techniques with good form and technique before they test.  While we have expectations at all belts, the following belts will be strict with advancements.  This means if your child is not ready to test, we will let them (you) know after Pre-Testing and they will hold off on testing.  These belts are; Yellow, Blue, Red & Brown.  This does not include “striped” belts.  If you do not hear back from CPAMMA before your child’s first “testing” class, they are expected to test for their next belt.  If we decide they are not yet ready, we will give you as much advance notice as possible and they will simply refrain from attending during testing days and belt presentation.

Doing this will help make sure children are not getting to Double Stripe Brown Belt and not being anywhere close to testing for Black.

TESTING FEES:

Starting March 2020 our testing fees will be the following; Mighty Mites = $19.99, Youth Martial Arts = $39.99.  Testing fees cover the testing process, certificate and new belt.

Teen class announcements - Updated 9/1/2021 @ 12:22PM

Teen Parents,

Reminder that teens/tweens not vaccinated will need to wear masks while in CPAMMA.  Teens who are vaccinated do not need to wear masks.  Please make sure your non-vaccinated child has a mask when they come in the building.  Understand that if they do not have a mask, they will not be able to participate in class.  We are no longer providing masks to students.  Our Youth class mask policy is still in place for all children in our Youth (not teen) program.

adult class announcements - UPDATED 8/30/2020 @ 1:10AM

9PM Jiu-Jitsu:

We will be moving 9PM Jiu-Jitsu to the main area of the gym.  Because of this, we will need to clean after the 8PM Striking class.  Please allow the instructors an addition 5 minutes or so to clean the mats.  This means the 9PM class may start a little late while we dial in the details on cleaning between the two classes.

7/15 UPDATE

7AM ADULT STRIKING & GRAPPLING CLASSES:

We have added the following adult classes to help spread out our student base and allow for everyone to continue to social distance.  Our hope is that if you come to a 7AM Striking or Grappling class, that you refrain from coming to the same day, later Striking or Grappling class.

Striking – M/W 7AM
Grapping – T/Th 7AM

ADULT OUTDOOR CLASSES RESUMING 7/16!:

We will be resuming our outdoor training Thursday, July 16th 2020 for our early evening adult classes. When the weather is nice, and not too hot we will be holding the following classes outdoors. Please understand that “nice and not too hot” is subjective so we will be taking it on a day by day basis. Please still come in the building to scan in, and to collect your equipment (if needed) before heading down to the grass. We will do our best to notify our students via the facebook.com/cpamma daily schedule if we will be outside. However, please understand that weather can change that.

M/W 5:30PM Women’s Kickboxing
T/Th 5:30PM Cardio Conditioning
T/Th 5:30PM Reality Based MMA

We are purposely NOT holding all of our classes outside so those of you who need to be inside can still be inside for classes. We will only be starting with the classes above.

**Remember to pack shoes regardless of the day so you have them available.**

7/2/2020 UPDATE

Adult Students!

In a continued effort to be proactive, maximize your safety at CPAMMA, and allow for people to social distance, we will be introducing FOUR new time slots to our CPAMMA schedule.  Do note, for current students, your membership rate will not go up even though we are adding value to your membership.

Our hope is that by adding these classes it will allow for our student base to be spread out more over all the time slots, allowing more room to social distance.  If you are one who is required to social distance, please consider taking the late evening and now, early morning classes instead of the more popular afternoon/evening classes.  The new class times starting the week of July 13th are:

Striking – M/W @ 7AM

Grappling – T/Th @ 7AM

**NOTE:  We NEED at least 8 consistent people to continue these time slots.  We are going off of the poll conducted on our student section.  If attendance drops for more than 2 weeks straight under 8 people we will remove these classes from the schedule.**

We have also started gym private time for pairs to come use the gym entirely on their own.  We will make sure the entire gym has been sanitized before your arrival and sanitize the space you have used after you leave.  Simply email info@cpamma.com and let us know the day/time you and your partner would like to come use the gym.  DO NOTE: This is only for one pair at a time and cannot be during our already scheduled class times.

6/13 UPDATE

ADDITIONS FOR JUNE 15th!  FULL SCHEDULE RESUMING JULY 1st!

9PM BJJ: Starting on Monday, July 15th, we will be adding 9PM Jiu-Jitsu to our schedule with Coach Anthony!  This will replace the previous 5:30PM Jiu-Jitsu that was held before the shutdown (for the time being).  We simply can’t have two classes as large as Kickboxing and Jiu-Jitsu going on at the same time.  Moving Jiu-Jitsu to 9PM will spread out the class times and allow for more space in the facility.

NOTE:  This will not replace any other BJJ class times we have.  We are simply adding 9PM M/W Jiu-Jitsu to our already in place schedule starting June 2020.

8PM NO-GI ROLLING: Starting Monday, July 15th we will be adding 8PM No-Gi Rolling.  Please make sure to attend the 6:30PM BJJ class and simply stay after to roll No-Gi.  Assigned partner is still mandatory.

NOTE: Please understand that we will be cleaning the mat at 8PM so we may ask you to move to another area when we sweep/mop.

OPEN MATS: Starting in July 2020 we will be adding Open Mats back to the schedule!  Open Mats will be at your discretion regarding working and changing partners.  If you are currently working with a partner please make sure they are okay with you working with them and other people BEFORE you attend an open mat.

NOTE: These open mats will start to phase in “changing partners” but will not have any affect on “classes.”  Classes are still mandatory assigned partners.

SATURDAY 11:40AM No-Gi: Starting in July 2020 Saturday Jiu-Jitsu will be No-Gi and taught by Head Instructor; Ryan Gruhn (when in town) and will be an extension of the already in-place 11:40AM classes during the week.  The class will simply be done “No-Gi.”

RESUMING & FREEZES: IMPORTANT! These additions will bring us back to a full schedule, considering the gym to be fully “open!”  This means all remaining memberships on freeze will automatically resume July 1st, per our announcement at the beginning of the shutdown. Freeze/Resume details can also be referenced  in the freeze form/email that you received.

NOTE:  Because of the July 4th holiday weekend, we will not have any classes/open mats on July 4th. We WILL have open mat July 3rd and July 5th!

coronavirus updates - UPDATED 5/1/2022 @ 10:11AM

**THIS UPDATE IS STRICTLY FOR YOUTH CLASSES.**

Starting the week of May 1st, if you are in the building and have not scheduled an observation, you will be asked to leave.  Simply email back if you would like to schedule an observation.  We have informed the instructors to simply refer to this email if a parent is unaware of the policy.  Reminder that if you are late, and arrive after the start of class, to please use the back door to come in and leave from as we lock the front door at the start of class.  Our staff is dedicated to focusing on the children while in class and we cannot have other non-members coming in the front doors during youth classes as it could take away from focusing on the children.  Reminder that front doors are locked until 5 minutes before each Youth class.  Please refrain from dropping of your child until then.**
—————————————————————————————–
3/17/2022 UPDATE

**THIS UPDATE IS STRICTLY FOR YOUTH CLASSES.**

We will be moving forward with the following changes starting March 21st, 2022 pertaining to Youth Martial Arts:

MASKS:
We have been following the SCASD in regards to masking.  Monday, March 21st 2022, masking will become optional for children in the SCASD.  We will continue to follow the SCASD and starting Monday, March 21st 2022, we will also make masks optional for children at CPAMMA.  Understand that we will continue to follow the SCASD in regard to masking.  If they return to masking, so will we.

DROP OFF:
We will no longer be requiring parents to come into the facility to drop off children.  Understand; however, that your child MUST have a key tag and their equipment for the class.  We are going to be extremely strict with this.  If your child does not have a key tag, they may not participate.  Or, we can assigned them a new key tag when they come in.

CLASS DURATION:
We will be returning to an hour long class for Youth Martial Arts.  This will mean that class times will be (depending on the day) 4:30PM-5:30PM, 6:30PM-7:30PM and 1PM-2PM.  This will also affect pick-up as we will no longer have the ability to escort children to their parents at the end of class.  See below…

—————————————————————————————–
11/18/2021 Update
**THIS UPDATE IS STRICTLY FOR YOUTH CLASSES.**

MASKS:
For Youth, in response to the most recent change with children being vaccinated, at the moment we are following the SCASD in regards to children masking in our Youth Martial Arts classes.  If the SCASD changes their policy regarding masks being required for Youth, we will follow.

ARRIVAL TO CLASSES:

We are allowing families to go in and out of the front doors now.  However, the front doors will remain locked during class.  If you arrive late, please use the back door which will be unlocked.  You MUST still walk your child into the facility and scan them in.–If you lose your child’s scan card replacements are $5.  Please remember to take note of any notices on the front doors as you enter which may pertain to your child’s class.  REMINDER:  Please park in a parking spots.  Do not pull up and leave your car running without a driver inside of the vehicle.

SPECTATING:

ALL SPECTATING MUST BE SCHEDULED.  We have had some families in the facility for class who have not been on the schedule to spectate their children’s class.  Please understand that we are only allowing one family in the facility to watch a class at a time.–Regardless of how many people are spectating; parent, siblings, etc.  It has come to our attention that some families who have scheduled an observation have arrived at CPAMMA only to find out another family is already spectating.  PLEASE refrain from staying in CPAMMA during class unless you have scheduled the observation ahead of time.  To schedule an observation, please email info@cpamma.com with the day and time you would like to spectate and we will inform you of the availability in the upcoming weeks/months.

————————————–
5/23/2020 Update
With the most recent lift in restrictions we have the following updates:
MASKS:

“Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.”

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html

For vaccinated CPAMMA students, masks are now “OPTIONAL” at CPAMMA.  Simply bring your vaccination card in and we will make a note in your account that wearing a mask is optional for you.  Students who are not vaccinated or not interested in disclosing if they are vaccinated, will continue to follow the mask rule as they have been for the past 12 months until otherwise instructed.  Please understand that “I already had COVID” is not a valid replacement for the vaccine according to the CDC.

NOTE:  Children who are not vaccinated will be required to wear masks.
NOTE:  CPAMMA’s entire staff has been fully vaccinated.

OCCUPANCY:

The pandemic has forced CPAMMA to add more classes to our schedule, significantly spreading out the student base from 7AM-10PM every day.  We have also significantly limited the number of new students who are allowed to join our programs at CPAMMA.  Starting June 1st we will start allowing enrollment to increase.  If you have been on a waiting list due to our space constraints, please reach out and we will be happy to schedule a free trial when we have space.  We will still restrict occupancy to ONLY students and not allow spectators.  This is simply because we can control the student numbers but we cannot control spectator numbers.  Doors will still be locked during select times/classes so please wait until your class/time or appointment to enter CPAMMA.  We will always open the doors a minimum of 5 minutes before a class if they are locked.

PARTNERS:

Vaccinated CPAMMA Students are welcome to work with whomever they wish, including non-vaccinated students at CPAMMA.  Non-vaccinated students will still be required to stay in a group of three or less non-vaccinated students during classes, as they have been doing for the past 12 months.  As with everything else we have done, you may continue working with the same partner you have worked with and you do not need to switch partners during/by the class unless you want to.

SANITIZATION:

We will continue our strict sanitation schedule which you can read about in the past updates.

————————————–
12/12/2020 Update

NO CLASSES 12/12/2020-1/3/2020:
With Governor Tom Wolf’s most recent shutdown from 12/12/2020-1/3/2021 we will be compensating our members by adding the following classes/open mats during January…

ADULT CLASSES:  Thankfully we will only be missing one week of classes (December 14th-19th) since our Winter Break was already built into our schedule (12/21-1/3).  Because of this, for the first week of January (1/4-1/9) we will be adding the following makeup classes/timeslots:

Striking – M/W @ 10PM, T/Th @ 8AM
Grappling – T/Th @ 10PM, M/W @ 8AM
**We need at least two students per makeup class, otherwise the time will be an open mat and you may hit the bag. PLAN on attending WITH a partner.**

If you are currently a member of the standard package of only 2 classes per week for $149, we are offering the ability to upgrade to UNLIMITED classes in a program of your choice for no additional charge.  Simply email info@payment-company.com with the subject “Unlimited CPAMMA” and they will help convert your membership to $99/Mo. for unlimited classes in a program of your choice.  Those of you who are in under the unlimited classes in a program of your choice for 1/2 off the standard rate ($99 instead of $199) you are welcome to attend unlimited classes in the program you are in as usual.

ADULT OPEN MATS:  We had open mats planned for 12/21-1/4, we will be adding open mats to our schedule in the month of January in the back room.
Striking – M/W :11:40AM & 9PM  T/Th: 7AM, 8AM, & 10PM
Grappling – M/W: 7AM   T/Th: 11:40AM & 9PM, 8AM & 10PM

YOUTH MARTIAL ARTS: Youth Martial Arts students can choose any make-up days during the month of January.  You MUST schedule in advance as we have space constraints by emailing info@cpamma.com.  Understand that if your child shows up for a makeup class without scheduling first, they will be turned away.  Make-up days will be during our normal Youth class times; M-F 4:30PM, M/W 6:30PM.

**We will count pre-testing week as your child’s test week.  Children will receive their new belt the first week of January.  If you DO NOT want your child to test for whatever reason, you MUST email info@cpamma.com by January 1st.  Otherwise their pre-test WILL be counted as their test so they can receive their belt in their first class back when they return.  You are also welcome to schedule a day/time to come pick up your child’s belt any day after December 26th by emailing info@cpamma.com.  Feel free to review everything regarding testing including fees, procedures, etc. HERE.**

REALITY BASED STUDENTS:  You are welcome to come to any alternative classe(s) or open mat(s) for the month of January to make up for next week’s classes being missed.  If you are doing BJJ, you will need a gi and if you are doing Striking you will need gloves.  Please email info@cpamma.com to schedule so we know to expect you!

We hope the above offerings exceed your expectations and help make up for the week of classes missed due to Tom Wolf’s mandated shutdown.  If anything we are doing to help accommodate for the time missed due to the shutdown is not to your satisfaction, you are always welcome to email us at info@cpamma.com.  Remember, membership to CPAMMA is optional and you are welcome to submit your 31 days notice HERE should you ever have the need to do so.

~ CPAMMA Staff

————————————————

Below are the ways we are keeping our students safe at CPAMMA:

MASK MANDATE:

Masks are REQUIRED at all times while in CPAMMA.  We are asking that if you have any reason to remove your mask that you leave the building.  If your mask falls down below your nose you must immediately pull it back up.  **The only place you may see ANYONE not wearing a mask is behind our front desk where social distance is possible with those who are entering the building.  The front desk is OFF LIMITS to public and only allowed by our instructors.**

SOCIAL DISTANCE:

While in CPAMMA, please keep at least 6′ of distance between you and the other people in the building.  The only exception to this is between assigned partners (see below).

ASSIGNED PARTNERS:

All classes are done with an assigned partner.  We recommend working with someone who is already part of your germ circle.  Family members, roommates, coworkers, etc. are all recommended.  Outside of people you are around on a daily basis, we also welcome you to choose a partner YOU are comfortable training with consistently.  We welcome groups of no more than three for people who are comfortable working with more than one person.

SOLO CLASSES:

We are offering our Cardio Conditioning classes on Tuesday and Thursday where social distance is REQUIRED during the class and is done individually.

TOUCHLESS HAND SANITIZERS, TOWEL DISPENSERS:

We have added numerous hand sanitizers throughout the facility for you to use.

ONE WAY TRAFFIC FOR PARENTS DROPPING OFF:

For parents dropping off children, you are REQUIRED to follow a one way foot traffic pattern.  You enter the front doors, drop off your child along the fence spaced 6 feet from the child in front of them, and exit the back door.  You are not allowed to cross foot traffic when you drop off your children.

FRESH AIR:

We have our HVAC system pulling in fresh air 24/7 and have our doors propped as much as possible.  Understand that this may change due to weather but we will keep all of our doors open as much as we can.

CLEANING AND SANITATION:

Mats are cleaned between EVERY class and we perform a deep clean/sanitation including fogging, wiping down all surface and more twice a day.

EARLY MORNING/LATE NIGHT CLASSES:

To help spread out the student base, we have added early morning and late night classes.

OUTDOOR TRAINING AREA:

Weather permitting, we have a full bag rack and workout area OUTSIDE in the back of our facility.

TOWELS & SPRAY BOTTLES:

We have clean towels and spray bottles throughout the facility for students to use to wipe off equipment before/after each use.  Towels are washed and sanitized after each use.

NO SPECTATORS:

We DO NOT allow for spectators that are not already scheduled to enter the facility.  If you would like to observe a class you MUST schedule it with our scheduling team by emailing info@cpamma.com.  We limit the number of people in the facility which includes EVERYONE, not just students.

50% CAPACITY:

We are lucky to have a 10,000 square foot facility which allows us to social distance at all times.  However, we do not go over 50% capacity for the building at any one time.  Understand that this may mean if our facility is at max and you show up unannounced you may not be able to enter.  Doors are locked during times of max capacity (only from the outside) and also during our Youth classes so unannounced people cannot enter.

————————————————

6/10/2020 UPDATE

MASK POLICY:

In regard to the recent mask mandate from Tom Wolf, we are asking that if you are able, and don’t have a medical condition, you follow the recommendation by the governor while inside of CPAMMA. We cannot force anyone to do anything they are unable to do and we 100% understand that some of you simply are not able to wear a mask. Understand that CPAMMA is not the place for judgement either way, and judgement will not be tolerated. See below quoted from the linked Q&A in regards to “do I need to wear a mask”…

Yes, unless you fit one of the exceptions included in Section 3 of the order.

Section 3:

Individuals who cannot wear a mask due to a medical condition, including those with respiratory issues that impede breathing, mental health conditions, or disabilities.

* “Individuals are not to be required to show documentation that an exception applies.” *

Please read over the Q&A below for more information on the mask policy:
https://www.pennlive.com/news/2020/07/what-if-i-have-asthma-and-other-questions-about-pas-order-to-wear-masks.html

All of the instructors will be wearing masks starting Monday; July 6th, 2020, when social distancing is not possible.

ASSIGNED PARTNERS & SOCIAL DISTANCING:

The stricter mask policy does not replace social distancing or assigned partners. PLEASE make sure you are still respecting this and staying away from other pairs/groups in all areas of the gym and classes.

If you have a problem with ANYTHING you can always reach out to CPAMMA by emailing info@cpamma.com.

**REMINDER, ALL FROZEN MEMBERSHIPS AUTOMATICALLY RESUMED ON 7/1/2020 PER THE TERMS OF THE FREEZE.  READ BELOW FOR DETAILS.**

6/10/2020 UPDATE

CPAMMA Students,

Thank you so much for all of your suggestions on ways we can improve our processes.  We have heard all of you loud and clear and are ready to make the following revisions:

ADULT CLASS ASSIGNED PARTNERS:  We are going to keep “assigned partners” as an option for adult classes for as long as people would like.  If you feel most comfortable staying with your assigned partner, we want to encourage you to continue to do so.  That said, we have had the question asked about working with multiple people who are already in one’s “germ circle.”  Family of three, coworkers, friends, etc.  Because of this, starting June 15th we will allow people to work in groups of three with people they deem safe to work with; however, no more than three to a group in a class.  For example, if there is a family of four in one adult class they will be split into two pairs.  This situation was presented to us last week when someone was left without a partner but already in the germ circle of another pair.  Again, we encourage you to use your own discretion picking partners and you may now do so “by the class.”  Your partner for each individual class is 100% up to you and can be a different person as you see fit.

SCANNING IN:  Adults may now scan in individually instead of waiting for your partner.  However, we ask that if you scan in individually, you go out onto the mat and pick a spot for you and your partner to be in.  Please avoid congregating in areas off the mat.  Once on the mats, stay there until the end of class.  This means going to the bathroom, etc. is encouraged to be done before the class starts.

5:30PM CLASSES & BACK DOOR:  Starting Monday, June 15th we will be back to Youth classes.  If you attend a 5:30PM adult class you will be entering and exiting the back door to leave the front doors for children to use.  The back door is accessible from the sidewalk around the left side of the building.  You can scan in using the scanner at the edge of the mat rather than the scanner at the front desk.  Youth classes will be ending at 5:15PM.

OUTDOOR CLASSES:  Our concept of “outdoor classes” was met with mixed responses.  Some people thought it was a perfect option for not yet feeling comfortable working inside.  Others immediately had concerns about the heat/humidity along with the possibility of thunder/lightning and wet grass.  We are going to try our hardest to still go outside on the days that it isn’t too hot and that there is no rain in the forecast.  However, as you all know State College weather isn’t always that predictable and there is a good chance we are inside more than we are outside for classes.

REVISIONS: Any updates or changes that are made will be in roughly 2 week increments until we are back to a normal schedule and process at CPAMMA.  Some weeks/months there will be no revisions.  Our goal is to fine tune our processes to continue to enhance your experience while still maintaining safety at CPAMMA.  Understand too that there may be weeks that we revert to a previous process depending on the current situation regarding the pandemic.  However, our goal is to be able to eventually move towards classes as they were before the shutdown; changing partners, larger classes, etc.

Our next announcement is scheduled for June 15th which will detail changes we are planning for the beginning of July.  Thank you for staying patient and supporting CPAMMA through this time!

~ CPAMMA Staff

———————————————————————————

5/25/2020 UPDATE

CPAMMA Students & Families,

We are excited to announce that we will begin to resume classes June 1st!  We will start with four different methods of workout, which are based around social distancing and meant to give all of you options depending on your comfort level.  We will be starting with an abbreviated adult schedule and as we progress through the weeks, we will add more classes including Youth classes!

REACTIVATE YOUR MEMBERSHIP:

To start, for those of you who kept your membership active through the entire pandemic, nothing additional needs to be done.  Your membership is active and ready to be used.  Adult members will have the ability to do any of the programs we are offering until we have moved back to a normal schedule like we had before the shut down. For those of you who froze your membership, before you attend your first class you will need to reactivate your membership here:
https://www.mmapayments.com/cpamma/resume

NEW (ADDITIONAL) WAIVER:

Because of COVID-19/Coronavirus, we have added an assumption of risk waiver that needs to be signed BEFORE your first class back.  You can download, print and sign the waiver HERE and can either email it back to info@cpamma.com or bring it with you when you attend your first class.  We will also have them available for those of you who would like to fill it out on-site.–Please allow an additional 5-10 minutes to do so.

ASSIGNED PARTNERS:

For the time being, we are going to stay with assigned partners.  Your assigned partner will be your partner for ALL classes you attend so please coordinate with a classmate and make sure you plan to come to the same classes together.  For now, multiple partners (in class, during the month, etc.) will NOT be allowed.  Ultimately, your partner is entirely up to you; however, we only recommend working with someone you feel comfortable with.  We highly recommend choosing a partner you have been around during the pandemic; spouse, roommate, family member, coworker, etc.  However, if you do not have any ideas of someone who can be your partner, please email us at info@cpamma.com. If you have a family member, significant other, coworker in mind that could be your partner that is not yet a member at CPAMMA, we want to work with you (and them) to make sure you can train!  Please email us and let us know.

PROGRAMS:

#1.  Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu will be an assigned partner class.  It will be conducted indoors and abide by social distancing standards of a minimum of six feet between pairs.  We will be limited to the number of students we will be able to have in class.

#2.  Outdoor Muay Thai will be an assigned partner class.  This is the exact same format/class as our Striking and Women’s Kickboxing.  Outdoor Muay Thai will be held in our grass area which offers over an acre of space to spread out and socially distance yourself from other pairs of people.  It is meant for all experience levels as we will be splitting into groups depending on arm band level.  If it rains we will move the class inside, however we plan on conducting the majority of these classes outside for as long as we are able to.

#3.  Outdoor Cardio Conditioning will be a class done individually, within a group spaced a minimum of 6 feet apart.  However, we plan to exceed the CDC/DOH expectations and allow for even more space between students.  If you are not yet comfortable working with another person, we want to respect this and Outdoor Cardio Conditioning offers an alternative to partner classes.

#4.  Outdoor Solo Training will be an “on your own workout” in our outdoor area behind the CPAMMA building.  This area is free for any current adult members to use from dawn till dusk and does not require you to enter any indoor area first.  Our outdoor area can be accessed by the sidewalk around the left side of the building.  For those of you who want to stay entirely away from other people until you feel comfortable, this option is for you and we want to respect your interest in staying socially distant from others.  Please make sure to bring your own clean towel to use the sanitation spray bottles in this area to wipe down equipment you are using before and after each workout.  Or, during class hours, feel free to come in and use one of the personal towels we are providing.  Please understand that the towel will need to be returned before you leave in our designated dirty towel bin inside of CPAMMA.

#5.  Virtual Classes will start on June 1st as well for anyone who still feels the need to shelter in place.  We respect your decision not to interact yet with others and want to make sure you have an option to still train!  The classes will be streamed exclusively to our Members Only pages.

 ATTIRE & EQUIPMENT:

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – ALL students must show up with clean, dry clothing.  All gis, belts, rashguards, shirts, etc. MUST be washed (and dried) before class.  If a student shows up with a dirty/wet gi or attempts to wear the same gi for two classes in one day they will not be welcome.  We will have a zero tolerance policy regarding anyone who is not abiding by the cleanliness rules we have set forth.  This class MUST be done with assigned partners and there will be no switching partners.

Outdoor Muay Thai – We recommend running shoes or five finger shoes for our outdoor classes/area.  For Muay Thai you will need your own gloves but we will provide sanitized Thai Pads/Focus Mits.  Thai Pads will be stored inside and will be available for pickup when you and your partner scan in for class.  You are also welcome to purchase your own pads HERE however, understand that you will still need to scan in at the front desk for each class before the start of class.  If you wish to purchase Thai Pads from the front desk please plan on doing so after any of the scheduled classes.

Outdoor Training Area – We recommend shoes as it is on concrete.  We also recommend boxing gloves for hitting the water and tire bags.  However, using MMA Gloves is an alternative if you are cycling through the bags, tire and rope for example as boxing gloves are not the best for using the ropes or hammer.  Please make sure to watch the following video from head instructor; Ryan Gruhn found HERE on how to hit the bags with MMA gloves.

Cardio Conditioning – We recommend running or five finger shoes for this class.  You will also be down on the ground using your hands so weight lifting gloves (for example) can be used.

**Please bring your own water bottle.  We also HIGHLY recommend considering suntan lotion while outside.  While we have never had many issues, we are in the grass so bug spray should be considered for those of you who notice the bugs when outside.**

June 1st-14th SCHEDULE:

https://youtu.be/Ibkeyzj17kw

We hope that one of the above options fits your individual comfort level regarding social distance and resuming physical activity within the Martial Community.  We will be exceeding the expectations from the CDC in regards to sanitation for businesses.  In addition to following social distance guidelines we will have hand sanitizing units throughout the facility, spray bottles with KenClean Surface Disinfectant, cleaning the mats and equipment after EVERY indoor class and much, much more.

March 2020 update

CPAMMA Students & Families,

With everything going on with the COVID-19 Pandemic, we wanted to take a moment to update all of you as to what CPAMMA will be doing over the weeks to come.  As things continue to change and progress with the COVID-19 Pandemic, CPAMMA would like to thank our family and friends who are coming together every day to support one another. We are all going through a very difficult time and the only way we are going to get through this, is together. So many of us are struggling financially, emotionally, mentally, and physically, and every ounce of support helps. Thank you to all of the Academies who are posting free work-outs and lessons for all of us to learn from. Thank you to the gyms, families, and restaurants who have been delivering groceries and meals to those of us who need them. Thank you to everyone posting all of the photos and videos of their successes. Whether it be your spouse holding pads for you, your kids baking cookies, or a quick blurb celebrating that you somehow juggled working from home, homeschooling your children, AND getting a workout in…THESE THINGS KEEP US ALL SMILING! Hang in there, family! “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” -Helen Keller

3/13/2020 @ 12:14PM update

CPAMMA Students & Families,

We are all in this together, and with the community that we have, we will get through this together. Literally, without the students, CPAMMA would not exist and without all of you CPAMMA will not be here when this is all over. We are asking for your support during this trying time.

Here is what we are doing for you:

Youth Martial Arts Families,
*Youth Classes are currently scheduled to resume April 7th.*

#1. Since we are not doing formal testing, your child will simply get their next belt in their next class. It is not their fault that all of this has happened and they should not be punished.  We will be graduating them to their next belt without testing. What a great way for them to come back and get your brand new belt on their first day back. Let’s make this extra special for them. We will encourage them to go off the mat so you can take a picture of them with their new belt!

#2. For Youth, we will be allowing makeups of the classes missed (up to 2 classes per week missed) through June 2020.  You will simply email info@cpamma.com at least one week in advance to inform us of the day/time that works for your child’s schedule.  We will be adding staff to these classes and opening up more spaces, however, understand we will still have a maximum capacity.  If the class is full, we will ask for you to pick an alternative day/time.

Adult Students,

*Classes are currently scheduled to resume April 1st.*

#1. We will be upgrading all one program students to the All Access “Unlimited” package for the month of April. You can come to any and all of the classes you would like to make up for the two weeks off. Understand you will need the appropriate equipment/attire for the class; Jiu-Jitsu Gi/Boxing Gloves. The average person comes 1-2 times per week so we are hoping you can make up classes missed during April.  If it is your first time doing that program you will need to schedule a first class.  We need at least 24 hours advanced notice to schedule first classes for students who have never trained in that particular class.

#2.  Ajarn/Professor Ryan will be doing Workout of the Week (WotW) videos for both adult Striking & adult Muay Thai for you to do with an open mat partner either at CPAMMA or at home if you’d like. This will include workouts you can do on your own and with a training partner.

#3.  We have opened up CPAMMA’s Online University to EVERYONE for free to help all of you and those who are in need of online resources to help aid in  training.  Simply click on the link in the first line, register, and use coupon code: 2020

#4.  We will be holding adult only open mats (16 and over) M-F 8AM-8PM through the end of March. This will help spread out the number of people in the facility at one time and also allow you and your training partners to coordinate days/times to come in and workout together.  Come in during normal class times or any other time for that matter (M-F 8AM-8PM through the end of March) and hit the bag, use the mats, etc. The gym is yours to do with what you choose, spend as much time as you need.  We recommend buddying up with a friend and having them be your training partner for the remainder of March.  Please make sure you and your buddy are both healthy and not showing any signs of illness.  Understand that if anyone shows up showing any type of illness, we will ask them to leave before stepping out onto the mats.  Understand that there will be people coming in and doing personal workouts that ARE NOT interested in working personally with other students.–Please respect this.

#5. We will be adding the following time slots for the month of April:

M/W @ 5:30PM (Men’s Striking)—WKB will still go on, Men & Women will be split.
M/W @ 9PM (Jiu-Jitsu)
Saturday @ 10AM (Co-Ed Striking)
Sunday @ 1PM (Co-Ed Striking)

#6. This is our current plan of action but due to changing circumstances daily, please be on the lookout for updates if anything needs to change.

Thank you for your continued support of CPAMMA.

3/1/2020 @ 5:28PM update

CPAMMA Students,

You may be feeling concerned about the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. If so, you are not alone. We at CPAMMA want to let you know we are proactive in making sure our environment is as safe as is possible for you and your family.  We are waiting until Sunday, March 15th to make any decisions on if we will be having classes for Adults and/or Youth after Spring Break.  In the meantime, we understand some of you simply will not be able to attend classes for the remainder of the month due to no classes at Penn State/SCASD.  If you are one of these people, here is how we are going to make it up to you:

#1. All adult students will be upgraded to the Unlimited Class Package for the month of April to make up for the classes missed over the next few weeks. This means you can come to ANY of the Striking, Grappling or Weapons classes at CPAMMA for the month of April.  If it is your first time attending a class, understand you will need the necessary equipment/attire to attend the class (gloves for striking, gi for grappling, etc.)

#2.  For Youth we will be allowing makeups of the classes missed (up to 2 classes per week missed) through June, 2020.  You will simply email at least one week in advance to inform us of the day/time that works for your child’s schedule.  We will be adding staff to these classes and opening up more spaces, however understand we will still have a maximum capacity.  If the class is full, we will ask for you to pick an alternative day/time.

#3.  For the month of April, we will be adding adult time slots to our schedule in both Grappling & Striking to allow for students to have more opportunities to make up the classes missed during the month of March.

#4. We will be publishing technique and training videos and adding them to our Online University which is 100% free to all current adult CPAMMA students.

Fortunately we have had a very mild winter which has meant 0 class cancellations due to weather. This has given you, the students, the ability to make classes consistently over the past several months with no interruption.  We are very fortunate in this regard as the majority of the students are on track for promotions, etc.

While this is a hard time for all of us, understand that at CPAMMA the students are priority.  Here are some specific measures we are taking to keep our students safe:

– We have ramped up our cleaning of CPAMMA.  Before Spring Break we swept and mopped the mats 1-2 times per day.–Most gyms mop only a few times a week but we always took the additional precautions and did them every day of the week.  We will now be adding mopping between select classes and tripling down on our cleaning staff.  This means our staff will be spending a minimum of 4 hours per day cleaning CPAMMA.  Wiping everything down, cleaning the surfaces, bathrooms, etc.

– If a staff member or instructor is feeling under the weather, we tell them to stay home.

– If a student was out of school or work sick, please don’t come to class that day or until the illness has passed. This is our standard policy–but in the current environment, it’s even more important. If we see that a student appears to be under the weather we will ask them to go home.

– The gym is cleaned on a daily basis. We have chosen to implement some extra preventive measures (tripling cleaning) when cleaning and disinfecting everything our friends and families come in contact with such as bleachers, faucets, toilets, paper towel dispensers, door handles, chairs and more. We use Clorox Wipes and Lysol Spray on touch surfaces, and a special anti-viral / anti-fungal cleaner on all mats and gear. We’re doing extra sweeping of the hard floors as well before, between and after classes.

– Disinfecting wipes will be conveniently located throughout our facility for you to wipe down your phones, tablets, computers, sparring gear, and whatever else you need.

– We will not be doing high fives or hand shakes.  In the coming days, we’ll be greeting people at the door without contact to make the environment even safer.

Here are things you can do to help support us in offering the safest environment possible.

– Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

– Wash your hands with soap and water regularly while singing the A,B,C’s, and use hand sanitizer as often as you feel it’s needed.

– Try not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

– Please stay home when you are sick or show any signs of not feeling well. Remember, we have a great make-up class policy and Online University for you to keep up.

– Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces that you bring into CPAMMA with the disinfecting wipes we have throughout the school. CPAMMA was one of the first businesses in our area to issue a Coronavirus policy. Most haven’t done it yet, and many large organizations were a week or more behind us. It’s important that our members and their families understand how seriously we’re taking this–and that our goal is to make sure that CPAMMA is the cleanest and safest place in town for you and your family.

Please feel free to reach out if have any questions or suggestions.
