Mixed Martial Arts

**5 Days of Instruction**
Our Mixed Martial Arts class synergizes the four key elements of today’s popular “Mixed Martial Arts” as seen in the UFC. These four elements are Boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Wrestling.
While other local programs clump all of these areas into one class only a few days a week, we like to ensure you are getting top level instruction in each area by instructors who specialize in each discipline throughout the entire week.
This ultimately builds fighters who are well rounded, and avoids the “Jack of all trades, master of none” paradox. The four disciplines are combine for one day of “blend” where students use all of the areas in one class.
Examples of professional fighters who train this way are Sean Sherk, George St. Pierre, Anderson Silva, Kenny Florian, Rich Franklin, BJ Penn, and many others. To become highly proficient at Mixed Martial Arts we recommend taking multiple classes in each program averaging 2-3 classes per day, however we understand that most peoples schedules prevent doing so. To this end, each student will take one class of each of the following per week:
CLASS BREAKDOWN
No-Gi Submission Wrestling – Focus on Submission Wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu for MMA including submissions, escapes, reversals, striking on the ground, and takedowns.
Western Boxing – Working the punches, footwork and defensive techniques involved in close range stand up fighting.
Muay Thai Boxing – Working kicks, knees, elbows and punches along with clinch, throws and takedowns.
Wrestling for MMA – Working takedowns, clinch and wrestling ground work.
Blend – Taking all of the skills from each class and blending them together. Striking, into clinch, take downs into ground work.
**Advanced MMA/Fight Team – Taught twice a week which includes advanced sparring, rolling and drilling. (by invite only)
**No Gi Submission Wrestling is taught by our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt instructor; Mike Fusco.
**Thai Boxing / Boxing / Blend is taught by Khru Ryan Gruhn,
**Wrestling is taught by Rick “Bull” Bolinsky; former Penn State Wrestler, PSU Defensive Tackle and PIAA State Champ.
